About ReSAKSS

BACKGROUND:

The availability of good quality data is an important precondition for sound policymaking. Weaknesses in national data systems range from lack of representativeness, incomplete coverage, discontinuity, dispersion to lack of homogeneity and comparability. This situation is both reason and consequence of limited use of and thus investment in data generation and management systems.

ReSAKSS ‘s objective is to bridge this existing gap by grouping on its web-based platforms comprehensive, reliable up-to-date data and facilitate the use of open agriculture and climate datasets for agricultural research and development.

OUR MISSION

The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS) supports the successful implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) by providing policy-relevant data; facilitating dialogue among stakeholders; monitoring progress in reviewing goals; and strengthening mutual accountability processes at continental, regional, and national levels.

WHO WE ARE

AKADEMIYA2063 leads the work of ReSAKSS in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), and leading Regional Economic Communities (RECs). The mission of AKADEMIYA2063 is to provide data, policy analysis, and capacity-strengthening support to enable African Union (AU) Member States to achieve economic transformation and shared prosperity in support of the AU’s Agenda 2063. As the main platform for monitoring CAADP implementation, ReSAKSS tracks the progress of core CAADP indicators through an interactive website and a flagship Annual Trends and Outlook Report (ATOR), the official CAADP monitoring and evaluation (M&E) report. In addition to tracking progress on CAADP core indicators, the ATOR presents analysis on a feature topic of strategic importance to the CAADP agenda each year.

OUR HISTORY:

ReSAKSS was established in 2006 under the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) for the purpose of supporting evidence- and outcome-based policy planning and implementation under the CAADP agenda. ReSAKSS was a direct response to the growing demand for credible information and analyses during the design and implementation of agricultural-led development strategies in support of CAADP.
